Innovation & Marketing Strategy for Am Law 200 Firm
We worked closely with firm leadership to develop a business/strategic plan to appoint a dedicated innovation team, work closely with clients to identify opportunities to innovate services, and launch a brand to help set the firm apart from competitors. Our role included “selling” this investment to the firm’s executive committee, organizing a road show to all of the firm’s offices to educate lawyers and staff on the evolving legal services market, and engaging with clients to secure new opportunities. As part of our effort, we developed the firm’s first data analytics program, a service which we offered to many of the firm’s top clients. We led the branding efforts that helped the firm win new work and gain recognition for its innovative service delivery model.
Coordinating Counsel Model with Fortune 50 Company
Working side-by-side with a senior leader of a Fortune 50 corporate legal department, we helped develop and run the department’s first-ever “coordinating counsel” program, overseeing more than a half-dozen outside counsel firms. The program aims to increase efficiency and consistency in the way that legal services are delivered to the department. Specific projects included gathering and analyzing data on the client’s portfolio of employment claims across multiple outside counsel firms; reviewing outside counsel spend data to identify opportunities for cost containment and reduction; handling repetitive employment matters on a fixed fee using an alternative staffing model; creating dashboards for transparency into matter status; and identifying and sharing best practices across outside firms.
Design & Scale Client Dashboard Offering
Applying user-centered design principles, we worked with an emerging growth company client to design one law firm’s first-ever client dashboard. After identifying the client’s pain points and needs, we worked with designers, technologists and lawyers to design a secure platform to host financial information, legal documents, a milestones calendar, and client team information. We brought the “minimum viable product” version of this solution to the client early to gather feedback and make adjustments before launching and scaling the solution firm wide.
