CASE STUDIES

Litigation

  • We’ve helped litigation practice groups to build platforms for managing sprawling cases, or portfolios of similar cases. We can either use technology the firm has, or help firms bring it in from outside. These tools provide the firm’s lawyers with updated status, management of key tasks, automation of workflows, access to key documents, and data visualization around spend. The firm can then turn select portions of that functionality client-facing. This replaces the old “management via email” approach that many firms use, and clients appreciate this approach more than the monthly Word document with matter status you may currently be sending.

  • We helped a Seattle boutique to develop a Strategy & Execution Plan for the litigation half of their firm. The difference between a regular strategic plan and one of our S&E Plans is that we include next steps, with owners and timelines, to ensure that the strategy portion of the plan has execution elements built in. This particular plan led to the development of a coordinated Litigation Service program, taking the best practices that were used by certain lawyers — as well as some new approaches we suggested from our other client work — and ensuring that all litigation clients got that same level of service.

employment & labor

  • We have helped firms to build out a service for handling EEOC and State Agency charges across dozens of states, one that leverages contract attorneys and technology, and allows the firm to complete these charge responses profitably under a fixed fee.

  • We, on behalf of a law firm but at the direction of a top 20 U.S. employer, took billings and settlement data across multiple firms and developed financial dashboards showing the average cost of an employment charge or lawsuit by a whole host of factors: claim type, location, job title, and opposing counsel. This historical data allowed the company to decide which cases to fight and which to settle.

corporate

  • We have helped multiple firms build automations for their startup clients. These tools leverage document assembly tools like Contract Express and HotDocs to develop templates, questionnaires, and repositories to house the resulting document sets. These systems can then trigger a once-over from a lawyer for edge cases or small tweaks before being made available to a client.
